A brief explanation of Type 7

Type 7 is...
An extroverted, optimistic, versatile, and spontaneous type.
A spontaneous, versatile, highly ambitious, and easily distracted type.

  • desire"The pursuit of happiness"
  • ToraI"If I don't bring joy, no one will love me."

Simple explanation
They are playful and passionate, but sometimes they struggle to utilize their talents effectively, overexerting themselves, becoming easily distracted, and lacking self-control. They constantly seek new and exciting experiences, but this can lead to distraction and exhaustion. They also struggle with anxiety and impulsivity.

I have a desire to experience everything in life while avoiding pain and boredom. To others, I appear active, fun-loving, and hedonistic.

Type 7s are often very busy people, constantly seeking out new activities to get as much enjoyment from life as possible. When they are heading towards collapse (stress), they suddenly become unhealthy.Type 1They become perfectionists and critical. However, when they move in the direction of integration (growth), they become healthy.Type 5This increases your concentration.

Details of Type 7

Type 7s are busy optimists brimming with boundless energy. They become engrossed in almost everything that catches their eye. They approach life with curiosity, optimism, and a sense of adventure, and like a "candy shop kid," they gaze upon the world with sparkling eyes, captivated by all the good things that await them. Bright and expressive, they see the world as their playground and could be described as the Enneagram's "eternal child." Their insatiable curiosity for new information and experiences is reflected in their talent for (impressive) storytelling and conversation. Bold and cheerful, they brightly pursue what they want to do in life.

Type 7s are classified as thinking types, but this isn't immediately apparent because they are very practical and tend to be involved in many projects at all times. They enjoy anticipating events, generating ideas on the spot, and engaging in activities that stimulate their minds. While not necessarily intellectual or studious, they are often intelligent, possessing broad reading skills and strong language abilities. They have a quick mind, moving from one idea to the next, and excel at brainstorming and integrating information. They prefer a broad overview and the excitement of the early stages of a creative process rather than delving deeply into a single theme.

They often have quick minds and excellent learning abilities. This applies to both their ability to absorb information (language, facts, procedures) and their ability to acquire new manual skills.

Ironically, their broad curiosity and rapid learning ability can sometimes be a problem. Because they can acquire a wide variety of skills relatively easily, they may find it difficult to decide what they should do. As a result, they may fail to properly appreciate the abilities they have worked so hard to acquire. However, a well-balanced Type 7 can achieve extraordinary results through their versatility, curiosity, and learning ability.

Thinking typeType 5Type 6Similarly, Type 7s also experience deep anxiety. Unlike Type 6s, who express their fears directly, Type 7s tend to suppress and ignore their fears, seeking positive experiences. They don't know what they should do or how to make choices that are beneficial to themselves and others. Type 7s deal with this anxiety in two ways.

The first characteristic is that they constantly keep their minds working at full capacity. Even after a day's work is done, new ideas often pop into their heads. If their minds are filled with positive ideas, especially for projects or the future, they can keep anxiety and negative emotions at bay to some extent. Similarly, since thoughts are stimulated by activity, they must constantly move on to the next stimulus. That doesn't mean they're "spinning their wheels," though. They simply enjoy getting things done in a practical way. Many of them are imaginative and creative. They excel at coming up with new ideas and gaining experience. However, they can lack focus and self-management skills.

The second approach is "trial and error." They try everything to see what works best. They feel, on a very deep level, that they can't find what they truly want in life. They seek joy and excitement to distract themselves from the dark and painful aspects of life. Therefore, they tend to try anything and everything, and ultimately rely on something as a substitute for what they truly desire. (For example, "If I can't get what I really want, I'll just have fun. That way, I won't regret not getting what I truly wanted.")

This is evident even in the smallest everyday things. When you want to eat three kinds of ice cream—vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry—you'll probably want all three. A similar dilemma arises when you plan a two-week vacation in Europe: Which country, which city to visit? Which countries, which cities to see, which historical sites to visit? The solution is to cram as many countries, cities, and attractions as possible into your vacation. While frantically searching for exciting experiences, your true purpose in life may unconsciously become deeply buried, and you may not be able to accurately recognize what it is.

Furthermore, as the pursuit of freedom and satisfaction accelerates, choices become poor, and satisfaction is lost. As a result, anxiety, dissatisfaction, and anger accumulate, and resources available to them physically, mentally, and financially diminish. Despite seeking happiness, they may end up ruining their health, relationships, and finances. While Type 7s may appear fearless on the surface, true growth comes from accepting their fears.

However, looking at it positively, they can also be described as extremely optimistic. They are cheerful and optimistic, and can transform negative emotions into positive ones. Internally, they downplay negative experiences and look for bright signs. When healthy, they are very uplifting and exciting people. When not healthy, they may appear detached from reality or narcissistic. They are cheerful and bright. They have abundant vitality and want to make the most of their daily lives. They are naturally cheerful and humorous, and are proactive in everything they do without taking things too seriously. Their basic desires are contentment, happiness, and fulfillment, and when they are in balance, that joy and enthusiasm for life naturally influences those around them. Type 7s remind people of the pure joy of being alive, the greatest gift of all.

Impatience, impulsiveness, addiction

You love having fun, and you're a hedonistic and active type, but you often get bored and lack patience. You're very impatient and impulsive because Type 7s rarely have well-thought-out plans and just do what they want to do. However, you must be careful not to become obsessed with a hobby or interest that you really love, even if you find one. Always take care of your health. Type 7s are more prone to addictions such as smoking, drugs, gambling, and games than other types, so be careful.

Interpersonal relationships

Optimistic, energetic, charming, active, fresh, and always on the move. Your life philosophy is "The most important thing is to have fun." You dislike being tied down or controlled, as you need a fresh approach to life. Your energy is playful energy, different from the third type's sense of accomplishment.

Elements that make up Type 7

Basic fear: To be deprived, to feel pain.
I have a fear of living a monotonous life. Therefore, I cope with this fear by constantly seeking out exciting, novel, and fun experiences.

basic needsI want to be satisfied, I want to be satisfied, I want to have my desires fulfilled.

Main motivationI want to maintain my freedom and happiness, I don't want to miss out on valuable experiences, I want to keep myself excited and not get bored, and I want to avoid and release pain.
Above all, I want to avoid becoming bored, sad, or numb to excitement.

Tips for growth

  • Stay calm and experience that moment. We often want to keep ourselves busy to distract ourselves from unpleasant emotions. As a result, we may not have enough time to relax and live in the present moment. Be mindful of your impulsivity and make it a habit to observe your impulses rather than giving in to them. This means you will be able to let most impulses pass you by and better judge which ones are worth acting on. The more you control your impulses, the more you will be able to focus on what is truly good for you.
  • Let's try to understand the value of pain and negativity.Seven grows by learning that there is beauty even in darkness. Painful emotions are not necessarily a "bad thing." If you want to turn away from the pain, take a moment to stop and see how you are actually feeling.
  • Let's reveal our true selves.By doing so, you can build deep and meaningful relationships. However, if you don't want to go below the surface, your relationships will never go beyond that. When necessary, reveal your vulnerabilities and have difficult conversations.
  • Let's get used to being alone. You tend to be drawn to extroverted and sensory-stimulating experiences. However, you can deepen your self-awareness by spending more time reflecting on yourself. You don't need to distract yourself with the sound of the TV or stereo, nor do you need to protect yourself from anxiety. By living a life with less external stimulation, you will be able to trust yourself. You will find satisfaction in things you do, even on a smaller scale than before, and you will likely find yourself happier than you expect.
  • You don't need to have everything at this very moment. That appealing new product is likely to be available tomorrow as well (like food, drinks, and other general gratifications). Most good opportunities will come back. This allows you to discern which opportunities are truly good for you. When it comes to experiences, focus on quality over quantity. The ability to have high-quality experiences can only be developed by fully focusing on the present moment. If you anticipate future experiences, you'll miss out on the present and be less likely to be satisfied.
  • Try to listen to what other people have to say.Listening to other people's stories is often fascinating, and you might learn something that opens new doors for you. Also, practice listening to understand, rather than just to answer. You don't need to react immediately to everything they say. Take time to think about what they're saying, and focus on giving a more thoughtful and empathetic response.
