ENFP (Activist/Reformer type)This section explains the integration of the second and third functions.
The following is a quote (with some modifications) from "Let's Look at the World from the Perspective of MBTI Personality Type Theory" (website no longer exists).
The conflict, compromise, and integration of introverted feeling (Fi) and extroverted thinking (Te).
The challenge for ENFPs in adolescence is their second psychological function. Introverted Feeling (Fi) and the third psychological function Extraverted Thinking (Te) The goal is to strike a balance.
Should one seek inner harmony by delving into their inner sensibilities and thoroughly considering the meaning of things, or should one stop doing nothing and systematically move towards the goal in order to fulfill the demands of those around them? A conflict arises between these two paths.
Which of these two psychological functions is dominant depends on the time and situation. It's impossible to integrate and utilize both effectively from the start. You have to skillfully choose which to use depending on the circumstances.
generally Introverted Feeling (Fi) They work better when they are sociable and active,Extraverted Thinking (Te) You'll probably end up using that one more often.
Sometimes, one of these psychological functions can become too dominant, leading to negative consequences. In reality, a unified perception is achieved when these two psychological functions work together in balance.
They readily express their own opinions and are also good listeners. Generally, they are charming and possess strong communication skills.
On the other hand, there are times when I can't rest until I've spoken my mind frankly. When I see someone being dishonest or deceitful, I might start a discussion.
Because they speak very frankly, and at the same time tend to be self-defensive, they can sometimes be perceived as arrogant.
In reality, they are open to others and will readily accept their opinions, so if someone expresses their opinion clearly, they will straighten up and show understanding. Their sincere and unbiased attitude will be conveyed to others.
Especially in our youth, we often harbor abstract questions about relationships and society, and we ponder alone what is truly right and what we should do. However, we struggle and suffer because we cannot find answers that satisfy us.
Initially, ideas may be vague and full of unknowns, but you'll realize that by actually planning, engaging with others, and working together, you can gradually give them shape and gain a more realistic understanding.
The third psychological function is Extraverted Thinking (Te) By trusting in it and making it work well, we find true value in executing plans that stem from passion and conviction. This is the breakthrough.
You can find beauty and peace of mind in creating harmonious systems and arrangements that follow order.
When you uncover deception or injustice, you might strive to rectify it strategically, involving those around you. Of course, this may not be easy. But if your claims are valid, your assertions are acknowledged, or improvements are seen, your strong convictions will turn into peace.
Introverted Feeling (Fi) と Extraverted Thinking (Te)By appropriately relying on its functions, one can carefully consider the significance of one's own actions, properly realize ideas, see the results, and find peace of mind.
Of course, for ENFPs, such a sense of security is only temporary. Once they achieve one goal, they will soon be motivated to move on to the next thing and embark on a new adventure.
