Hobbies of the psychologist type (INFP)

The following is a quote (with some modifications) from "Let's Look at the World from the Perspective of MBTI Personality Type Theory" (website no longer exists).

I have a broad interest in literature, fine arts, music, film, theater, opera, and other arts. I am moved by the profound expressions of human emotion that I find in them.

To express the inspiration and aesthetic sensibilities that well up within me, I sometimes dedicate myself to solitary artistic creation. This can take the form of abstract expression, or it can be a realistic depiction of the real world in meticulous detail.

You might like works that are like an explosion of art, or simple drawings of dots and lines, but if you think about it carefully, you'll probably realize they're fake. For an INFP who is always searching for authenticity, even if they become engrossed in such things, it might only be a fleeting trend.

In fact, it's safe to say that such artistic styles are either mentally immature, pathological, or simply fraudulent. They will not have any positive influence on others.

In fact, as the spirituality of the people who make up a civilized society increases, they stop calling things that are meaningless art. This has been made clear in research on cosmic civilization, but it is self-evident to those who know the true reason why this world exists.

However, it seems that it will be a long time before this understanding becomes clear to Earthlings. It is important to convey this to those around us and encourage a gradual shift in direction.

One of the good things about INFPs is that they can tell everyone that the emperor has no clothes. However, they also need to have a warm, supportive attitude, like a parent expecting their child to grow.

If you want to express truly human sensibilities, I recommend using your skills, heart, and mind to create something that can be shared with others. There is much to learn from nature in this regard. Art can uplift the human spirit, bring balance, and promote the spiritual progress of individuals and human society.

Furthermore, you may be able to perceive something compelling in artificially intricate things such as design and mathematics.

Whenever I'm creating something, I can always make use of my strong sensitivity. My guiding principles are what I want to convey and how the viewer will feel about it.

Sometimes, literary works express reflections on humanity and human society. These works often take the form of lengthy pieces.

I sometimes ponder religious and philosophical questions and think deeply about them. I pursue truth, goodness, and beauty, and I continue to contemplate the fundamentals of this world, attempting to express them in writing. Self-expression on paper is a convenient means of achieving this, and in most cases, I quickly improve and become proficient.

Some people express the various emotions they can experience through poetry, songs, and music. Others may find the idea of becoming an actor and performing appealing.

You will be strongly drawn to stories. However, your interests will not stop there; you will develop a wide range of interests and try to absorb knowledge by reading many books. Some are interested in theoretical matters. You will find that slightly complex and thought-provoking stories are more rewarding to read.

Cooking, photography, travel, language learning, fortune-telling, and even being a neighbor's advice-giver can all be considered hobbies.

INFPs are generally easily excited by interesting, unusual, and mysterious things, but as they get older, they start to become more interested in practical matters.
