ISTJ (Hardworking Type)This section explains the integration of the second and third functions.
The following is a quote (with some modifications) from "Let's Look at the World from the Perspective of MBTI Personality Type Theory" (website no longer exists).
The conflict, compromise, and integration of extroverted thinking (Te) and introverted feeling (Fi).
The challenge for ISTJs in adolescence is their second psychological function. Extraverted Thinking (Te) and the third psychological function Introverted Feeling (Fi) The goal is to strike a balance.
Should we think objectively and make rational judgments, or should we hone our inner sensibilities and consider meaning, beliefs, and the psychological impact on ourselves and others? A conflict arises between these two approaches.
Which of these two psychological functions is dominant depends on the time and situation. It's impossible to integrate and utilize both effectively from the start. You have to skillfully choose which to use depending on the circumstances.
Generally, extroverted thinking works better, but when you're alone or introspective, introverted feeling will likely be more active.
Sometimes, one of these psychological functions can become too dominant, leading to negative consequences. In reality, a unified perception is achieved when these two psychological functions work together in balance.
Extraverted Thinking (Te) Through this process, we reason and make rational judgments based on cause and effect relationships and objective criteria. We try to understand the principles and mechanisms of matter, machines, organizations, and social rules with reason. And we try to solve problems quickly and without fear.
They strive to fulfill their responsibilities and build a stable life by following clear standards that everyone can understand. They are also concerned with appearances and may worry about what others think of them.
Based on such judgments, they will likely intend to proceed with the plan in a way that avoids any mistakes.
Furthermore, to achieve our goals, we create a supportive environment and engage with others.
ISTJs are interested in intricately designed and meticulously constructed systems and may try to understand them thoroughly. They may also try to put them into practical use.
Introverted Feeling (Fi)Through this process, you can reflect deeply on the significance of your vision and continue to burn with quiet passion.
Furthermore, the values secretly nurtured within oneself are those that value originality. Even if one is called eccentric or odd, one may not mind it at all.
Therefore, regardless of what others think, you can frankly state what you believe is right, and confidently set your course of action and move forward.
This usually leads to positive results for ISTJs, as they are able to move forward with conviction without being swayed by irresponsible opinions from others. However, if their perspective narrows, they may end up concocting narrow-minded arguments that sound plausible but are ultimately self-serving.
If that happens, all the careful observation you've done will lose its value. To prevent that from happening, it might be a good idea to consider different possibilities from time to time. You need to pay attention to the diversity of things.
Because they are characterized by their ability to analyze data in detail and think theoretically, they often find themselves drawn to science and technology.
However, no matter what position you hold, you will strive to fulfill your responsibilities as a manager at work. And if you can successfully complete even a small responsibility, you will find peace of mind. And without even realizing it, you will be contributing to the stability of your family, community, and society.
