Hobbies of ESTJ (Executive/Managerial Type)

The following is a quote (with some modifications) from "Let's Look at the World from the Perspective of MBTI Personality Type Theory" (website no longer exists).

Many ESTJs may seem completely focused on work with no particular hobbies. However, upon closer inspection, they often have a surprising number of things they can enjoy in their free time.

I often read self-help and how-to books to try and put what I learn into practice.

I'm interested in historical dramas and similar shows.

You might develop an interest in watching sports. Or, you might become a coach for children's sports teams in your neighborhood association or school club.

I am interested in Tai Chi, ancient martial arts, Judo, and traditional Chinese medicine—techniques and knowledge for maintaining good health. I can nourish my body through jogging and fitness. I will also pay attention to nutritional balance and my diet.

You might be drawn to dubious pseudoscience that cleverly blends morality.

They enjoy tinkering with practical machines and devices, and searching for everyday necessities. They are interested in technology and often read books to acquire knowledge. Trying new things may become more daunting as they get older, but for an ESTJ, it should be exciting.

I enjoy the ingenuity and strategic skills of shogi or chess. Alternatively, I might play mahjong or other table games. Playing with friends is also a fun way to spend my leisure time.

You might go to the sea or a river to fish, or venture into the mountains and fields to forage for mushrooms or wild vegetables. These are places where you can test your patience and adventurous spirit.

Although it rarely happens, when I have the time and inclination, I try to listen to others who are in trouble and offer advice. I try to understand their feelings while also giving sound advice and encouragement.

I sometimes enjoy appreciating classical music and works of art. This tendency tends to emerge after reaching a certain age. Visiting concert halls, opera houses, art museums, and Kabuki theaters allows me to relax in a different way than usual, providing a peaceful and calming experience.
