About ISTP relationships

The following is a quote (with some modifications) from "Let's Look at the World from the Perspective of MBTI Personality Type Theory" (website no longer exists).

Even without saying anything, they are calmly thinking about something in their minds. However, in most cases, this is not easily visible to others. ISTPs themselves may even think that their true selves are a secret.

The reluctance to self-disclose can sometimes be frustrating for others. However, this is natural when considering the psychological functions of an ISTP. In most cases, there is no malice intended.

The primary psychological function of an ISTP is introverted thinking (Ti), and the secondary psychological function is extroverted sensing (Se). Therefore, they do not tend to communicate using a lot of words.

Rather, in human relationships, a sense of camaraderie is fostered through practical problem-solving, observation, and shared actions. Those around them need to understand this.

Introverted thinking (Ti) tends to be skeptical and develops unique ways of thinking, which can sometimes lead to rude remarks or dry humor. Please be aware that this, too, is a sad fate of having a dominant introverted thinking (Ti) personality.

ISTPs, due to their extroverted feeling (Fe), often give off a simple and humble impression. They are also amiable and considerate of others. These feelings, however, are often expressed through actions rather than words due to the functioning of their extroverted sensing (Se). Therefore, it's important to be aware of this.

With their swift and resilient reactions, they may unknowingly protect you from danger.

Alternatively, they might be doing necessary tasks like cleaning or repairs without you even realizing it. If you notice and express your gratitude, they will likely be genuinely pleased.
