Extroverted Sensing (Se)Introverted Sensing (Si)Both approaches deal with reality in concrete and detailed terms through the five senses. However, because they direct their attention in different directions, they have opposing qualities. Those who use extroverted sensing may suppress or feel aversion towards the functions of introverted sensing. Similarly, those who use introverted sensing may suppress or feel aversion towards the functions of extroverted sensing.

Extroverted sensing focuses our awareness on the present moment, grasping what we are experiencing and the state of the outside world. Introverted sensing, on the other hand, independently recalls memories. That is, past memories naturally arise even without observing the outside world. Of course, this function of introverted sensing can be triggered by what is being experienced in that moment. In this case, a comparison is made between past and present experiences, and the map of perception becomes more detailed. Consciousness is not solely focused on the present moment. Therefore, the time we can purely observe the present moment is limited. Extroverted sensing, on the other hand, eliminates such functions, purely observing the present and always experiencing fresh things.

Introverted sensing focuses their attention on things that interest them and stores information obtained through their five senses. They value keeping things organized, knowing where they put things and where to find what they're looking for. They dislike rapid changes in their external environment, work methods, and relationships. They may also feel nostalgic when reminiscing about the past. Introverted sensing is static and conservative. Because of these characteristics, they tend to be frugal with money. They prefer functional and durable necessities and dislike unnecessary luxury. This frugal attitude is reflected in their eating habits, clothing, and makeup. They don't readily try new things. They always try to maintain a simple and familiar lifestyle. They prefer slow, deliberate information gathering, such as reading books or visiting art museums.

On the other hand, extroverted sensing gives the impression of being extremely active. They are curious and try to gather as much information about the outside world as possible and experience it. They desire to acquire rare things in the outside world and see unusual phenomena with their own eyes. New experiences are of utmost importance to them, and they are not conscious of past memories in the moment. They behave as if they know no fear. As their interests are directed outward, their money also tends to be spent outward. This is because they are always acquiring new things and spending money without hesitation to have new experiences. They yearn for expensive and high-quality goods, luxurious meals, and beautiful bodies, and their lifestyle and surroundings tend to be extravagant. However, this in itself is not a problem as long as the strengths of extroverted sensing allow them to concentrate on their work and earn good rewards.

Both extroverted sensing and introverted sensing share the trait of seeing reality as it is, making them grounded. Those with a strong introverted sensing trait can broaden their perspectives by being presented with new stimuli by those with a strong extroverted sensing trait. However, they may become frustrated if this happens too quickly. On the other hand, those with a strong extroverted sensing trait can receive more detailed information on a single topic from those with a strong introverted sensing trait. They may also be cautioned to act with moderation. However, they may become frustrated if they are required to be overly cautious.

Introverted and highly sensitive types are well-suited to desk work that utilizes their memory and requires persistent attention to detail.

Those with a strong extroverted sensing personality type can utilize their ability to focus on the present moment and are well-suited to jobs that make use of their manual dexterity and physical abilities.
