Introverted Sensing (Si)Introverted Intuition (NiBoth are psychological functions that receive information from within. They are receptive and relaxed internally, yet they have no trouble setting guidelines for action. Images naturally come to conscious awareness. They present a convergent view of possibilities, provide conviction, and set a course of action. However, there are differences.

Introverted sensing remembers details in great detail. Information is remembered as it is. While comparisons are made with similar past experiences, bold speculations and interpretations are avoided. The more experience one gains, the more the internalized worldview slowly expands. Repeated experiences allow for greater attention to detail, and one can patiently follow meticulous procedures. Recognizing these values, they cherish tradition. On the other hand, they tend to resist change. They rarely dare to try something different. Therefore, their behavioral patterns tend to be fixed.

Introverted intuition offers a holistic view of the world. It focuses on the interconnectedness of things, while neglecting specific details. Thinking becomes abstract and metaphorical, with attention to details taking a backseat. Unconsciously, it synthesizes information gained through experience into a single concept. It then trusts its flashes of inspiration and premonitions, using them as guides for future actions. It rarely indulges in nostalgia, instead anticipating, warning of, and prompting change for what may happen in the future.

Introverted sensing guides the future based on what we've learned from the past. Introverted intuition, on the other hand, follows premonitions derived from unconsciously integrated images. These premonitions, even without clear reasons, strongly suggest that we should take some action regarding future events.
